Rwanda Validates Institutional Framework and Terms of Reference
In an effort to authenticate and strengthen the institutional capacity of the Rwanda One Health platform, P&R recently supported a validation workshop in joint collaboration with the country’s One Health Steering Committee, OHSC.
The workshop was held to address institutional and strategic issues in addressing the OHSC’s abilities to enhance its role in One Health initiatives across sectors. Since its establishment in 2011, the One Health Steering Committee, has led Rwanda’s multisectoral and multidisciplinary approach in managing health challenges and pandemic threats.
Participants from the Rwanda Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health and international agencies such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations (FAO) were present at this discussion-filled workshop. The event was scheduled as a follow-up to the Institutional Framework development workshop, signifying a milestone in strengthening gaps and multi-sectoral collaboration using the One Health Approach.
The workshop concluded with a working structure for the OH Platform consisting of roles and responsibilities. A final draft of the Institutional Framework and TORs is in progress and will be finalized by the end of October.
